This Cookie Policy explains how Littale LLC ("Littale," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies across littale.com and app.littale.com (together, the "Service"), and the choices available to you. This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and tags. These technologies are used to make websites function, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, measure traffic, and, in some cases, deliver advertising. We use the term "cookies" in this Policy to refer to all such technologies.
littale.com (our public landing site) and app.littale.com (our core application) are operated as separate environments with independent cookie banners, independent analytics tooling, and independent databases. This means your cookie consent choice, and the IP address and technical data collected, on one domain does not automatically apply to or carry over to the other. You will be shown a separate Accept/Reject cookie banner on littale.com and on app.littale.com, and your choice on each is stored and applied independently. IP address and related technical data may be collected separately on either domain for analytics and security purposes, as described in Section 5 of our Privacy Policy.
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies.
These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. On app.littale.com, this includes authentication and session cookies that keep you securely logged in and protect access to your dashboard and account data. On both domains, this includes routing, load-balancing, and security cookies used to detect and prevent fraud or abuse. Because these cookies are essential, they are not subject to the Accept/Reject choice described in Section 6 and do not require consent under applicable law.
3.2 Cookie Consent Record.
When you make a cookie choice (Accept All, Reject All, or custom preferences), we store that choice in your browser so you are not asked again on every visit, and we separately log a record of it on our servers — regardless of whether you accept or reject — for compliance and accountability purposes. This record includes a randomly generated visitor identifier, your IP address, the consent status and categories selected, your browser user agent, the page URL where consent was given, IP-derived location details (country, region, city, postal code, approximate coordinates, and timezone), and network information (such as your internet service provider and network organization). We keep this record so that, if ever required, we can demonstrate what choice was made, when, and from where.
3.3 Analytics & Visit Tracking Cookies.
Where you have accepted Analytics cookies, we record details about your visit — including a session identifier, referring page, UTM campaign parameters (if you arrived via a tracked link), landing page, browser user agent, IP address, and IP-derived location details (country, region, city, and network/ISP information) — to help us understand how visitors use the Service and improve it. This is implemented through our own first-party tracking as well as Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics. These cookies are non-essential and are only set with your consent where required by applicable law (see Section 6).
3.4 Marketing Cookies.
We display third-party advertisements through Google AdSense and/or other third-party advertising networks. These providers may set cookies or use similar identifiers to select and measure ads, and, subject to your consent and settings, to personalize the ads shown to you. As described in our Privacy Policy, we do not knowingly permit behaviorally-targeted advertising directed at users we know to be children.
3.5 Payment Cookies.
When you initiate a checkout or manage billing, our payment processor, Stripe, sets its own cookies to validate the payment session, prevent fraud, and support secure transaction processing. These are set directly by Stripe under its own privacy and cookie practices when you interact with a Stripe-powered checkout element.
Exact cookie names and durations may change as our analytics and advertising providers update their own technologies; this table is provided for general transparency and is not exhaustive.
European Economic Area & United Kingdom: under the EU ePrivacy Directive, UK PECR, and GDPR/UK GDPR, we ask for your prior, opt-in consent before setting any non-essential cookie (analytics, advertising, functional beyond strictly necessary). You can accept, reject, or customize these categories via our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time (Section 6).
United States: we rely on an opt-out model consistent with the CCPA/CPRA and similar state privacy laws. Analytics and advertising cookies may be set by default, but you may opt out at any time, including via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism referenced in our Privacy Policy, or through the cookie preference controls described below.
Other regions: where local law imposes a stricter standard than described above, we apply that stricter standard for visitors from that region.
When you first visit littale.com or app.littale.com, a cookie banner will ask you to make a choice about non-essential cookies:
Your choice is saved to your browser and, for accountability and record-keeping purposes, is also logged on our servers together with your IP address, IP-derived location details, a randomly generated visitor identifier, a timestamp, and the page URL where consent was given — this allows us to demonstrate, on request, what choice was made, when, and from where. Because littale.com and app.littale.com operate as fully independent environments, your consent choice is set and stored separately on each domain — accepting or rejecting cookies on one domain does not affect your settings on the other.
You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings, which typically allow you to block or delete cookies broadly. Please note that blocking or deleting Strictly Necessary cookies will prevent core features — including staying logged in — from working correctly.
Some cookies on the Service are set by third parties we work with — currently Google (Analytics, AdSense, and OAuth), Vercel, Inc. (hosting/analytics), and Stripe (payments). These third parties are responsible for their own cookies and data practices, which are governed by their own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review those policies for more detail on how each provider uses the data its cookies collect.
As described in our Privacy Policy, we do not knowingly use cookies to build behavioral advertising profiles of users we know to be children. Where a storybook is accessed by a child via a private link without account registration, only Strictly Necessary cookies required to serve the page are used; Analytics and Marketing cookies remain subject to the consent choice described in Section 6.
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no common industry standard for interpreting DNT signals, so the Service does not currently change its behavior based on a detected DNT signal. You can still manage cookies through the mechanisms described in Section 6.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use, or changes in applicable law. We will post the updated Policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date, and where changes are material, we will prompt you to review your cookie preferences again.
